Essex is a great place for a holiday and we have our five best holiday parks in Essex here offering a great range of facilities and entertainment in established tourist centres near the sea. There are a large number of caravan parks and lodge parks in Essex, well established and many have been running for years. A good number of these are privately owned and only have owner only caravans, some even have restrictions so that only the owners and there families can visit the parks. That means that the number of caravan parks in Essex that have good facilities is pretty limited, primarily with the big chains but they have some cracking holiday resorts in Essex for you to visit.
Essex has some great beaches and a lot of the parks are on or near a beach. From Clacton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze and Frinton-on-Sea with its wide sandy beach, Essex is ideal if you want a beach holiday without a huge drive. There are busy beaches like Clacton-on-Sea and West Mersea to quieter beaches like The Naze, there is something for everyone. Tourism is very well developed here, piers and promenades a plenty with traditional seaside holidays on offer in some great locations.

Highfield Grange Holiday Park is set in Clacton-on-Sea but towards the back of the town so it is either a decent walk or an 8 to 10 minute drive to the beach and the pier. There is still a lot going on nearby, Clacton-on-Sea is a vibrant location with lots going on and there is a Tesco just around the corner. The park is really geared towards families with great facilities and lots going on, especially for the younger kids including a 200m flume and an interconnected indoor and outdoor pool. They have plenty of activities in the pool including aqua jets which is great fun and inflatable jet skis.
They have several activities for Tots including mini olympics, biking and archery as well, you can also hire a double kart or a family kart and go and explore the park. They also have themed activities on a regular basis, this park has a lot going on and is ideal for families with kids of all ages. There is an adventure playground, kids club, entertainment venue with nightly events, bar and restaurant and a Costa Coffee. A great park, loads going on and a top family park near all of the attractions.

Walton-on-the-Naze, Essex
Naze Marine Holiday Park is a big holiday park right by the sea in Walton-on-the-Naze with the sea front just a short walk away and you can walk along the promenade down to Walton pier along the beautiful beach, one of the best in Essex. This is a park that Parkdean have branded an ‘Action Packed Park’, so there are lots of activities on the park, primarily directed at kids.
The end result is a lot going on plus an indoor pool , entertainment centre and adventure playground. They have a dedicated sports dome with lots of fun things to do all day plus an outdoor canopy with shows and entertainment. From bungee trampolies, a high ropes course, hover boarding and laser tag, there are to many things to do to list here but you get the picture, this is a big park with loads going on so the kids will not get bored.

The Orchards Holiday Village is another large action packed caravan park in St Osyth to the east of Clacton-on-Sea and is a Haven caravan park. Much like the other parks, this is geared up to families with a lot on offer. The Orchards Holiday Village is ideal for families where the parents want something to do as well with a nine hole golf course and fishing lake to keep you happy whilst the kids go an entertain themselves in the wide range of activities that are on hand.
For example, they have a climbing wall and Nerf training camp, footgolf and bungee trampoline along with a great entertainment venue and two fishing lakes, four separate play areas and a sports court. There is daily entertainment and lots of places on site to get some food plus a wide range of caravans to choose from to suit all budgets. This is a great park in a pretty location, near to a great beach and roughly 5 miles from Clacton.

Hutleys Holiday Park is right on St Osyth Beach, in fact Hutleys owns a private one mile stretch of beach that is sand and pebbles. Hutleys is also the last remaining independent park in the area, in fact, it is still owned and managed by the Hutley family and was established in 1921. Back then, they new where to locate a holiday park and they found a great location with Hutleys, you are literally right by the beach. This is a great park if you have done the big chains and want something with a more personal feel, where you can meet the same staff year after year.
Hutleys has an indoor swimming pool, shop, bar with entertainment, café and takeaway with plenty to do on site. The big issue here though is that all of the caravans are privately owned so you will need to do some digging to find a caravan to hire, have a look at booking.com or ukparks which may have some caravans with rental availability.

Steeple Bay Holiday Park is a group park, part of the Park Holidays Group of holiday parks and is a medium sized park with an intimate and relaxed feel, away from the main tourist areas around Clacton. This is a great family park if you prefer a quieter location, still with all of the facilities and entertainment, but surrounded by beautiful countryside and Mayland Creek.
There is an outdoor pool and fishing lake on site, kids entertainment with Loopy, a bar, restaurant and entertainment venue along with adventure playground and amusement arcade.
