Christchurch Holiday Parks – FAQs

What do people actually do when staying in Christchurch?

Most time is spent around the harbour, rivers and nearby beaches. People head to Mudeford Quay which is about 10 minutes away for crabbing, walking and views across the water. From there, many take the ferry or walk over to Hengistbury Head for a full day out. Christchurch itself is more about walking along the quay, visiting the priory and stopping at pubs and cafés.

Which places nearby are worth visiting from Christchurch?

Mudeford Quay is the main one and is always busy with boats and families. Hengistbury Head is just beyond it and is one of the best walking areas on this part of the coast. Avon Beach sits just along from Mudeford and is one of the best beaches nearby. Bournemouth is around 15 minutes and offers a much larger beach and busier seafront if you want a change of pace.

What are the best beaches near Christchurch?

Avon Beach is the closest and easiest, with good facilities and a straightforward layout. Friars Cliff is just next to it and tends to be a bit quieter. If you head over to Hengistbury Head, you get a much more open stretch of coastline. For a bigger traditional beach, Bournemouth Beach is within easy reach.

Where are the best places to eat and drink in Christchurch and Mudeford?

The Noisy Lobster at Avon Beach is one of the most popular places to eat in the area and gets busy in good weather. The Jetty at Christchurch Harbour Hotel is a more upmarket option with views across the water. The Thomas Tripp in Christchurch is a well known pub with a lot of character. Around Mudeford, The Haven House Inn sits right by the quay and is a regular stop.

What is there to do apart from the beaches?

Christchurch has a strong mix of things to do without needing the beach. Christchurch Priory is one of the main landmarks and sits right by the river. Walking along the River Stour and River Avon is popular, especially towards the quay. Boat trips and paddleboarding are common on the harbour, and the Mudeford ferry is a simple but well used experience.
