South Lakeland Leisure Village is a stunning dog friendly holiday park set to the south of the Lake District with easy access to the Yorkshire Dales. There is a range of dog friendly holiday lodges here, many of these are set right by the lakes and you also have the new developments the Yealands and Borwick Lakes. All three combined make this a large pet friendly holiday park with the main feature being luxury lodges that are well spaced out around several lakes in total.
The offerings at South Lakeland Leisure Village are based around rest, relaxation, quality facilities and open air space. There are lots of walks around the park and a large number of great places to visit within a short drive, in fact, the central location for days out make it a top base for exploring the area. This is not a traditional holiday park in terms of evening entertainment, kids clubs etc, more of a location to relax and enjoy the area. It is also a great place to stay if you enjoy fishing with well stocked lakes.
There is a new leisure centre with a large pool, fantastic gym, personal trainers on hand and a steam room. The quality restaurant offers great food and has a large decked area where you can relax with a drink. Dog owners will love this pet friendly park, the coast is a short drive away and Windermere is easy to access from the park.

Lakeland Leisure Park is not actually specifically in the Lake District, like the South Lakeland Leisure Village it is set to the south of Windermere and is 9.5 miles from Newby Bridge at the southern tip of Windermere. The park though has a lot going in its favour being right by the sea to the south of Flookburgh with grange-over-Sands just a short drive away. This means that you have the beaches on tap and the lakes a short drive away whilst staying on a major operator holiday park.
Lakeland Leisure Park is part of the Haven group of holiday parks and differs from the other parks in that it has its own water sports centre. Have you ever tried a SUP, they are great fun! There is an outdoor pool open during the summer months and a large indoor pool for the cooler months along with a 9 hole golf course, or crazy golf for the kids. There is a climbing wall, ariel adventure, archery, pedalos, kart hire, bike hire, the list goes on. You also get a modern entertainment venue with traditional Haven entertainment and a beautiful Lakeside bay restaurant as well as pizza takeaway and fish and chips. It’s all here and this park is dog friendly as well with a range of dog friendly accommodation on site.

Whinfell Forest is part of the Center Parcs group and is a dog friendly holiday parks and like all Center Parcs, it is a bit different. Dogs are welcome at Whinfell Forest and you can take your dog into the Lakeside Inn and the boardwalk at Starbucks! There are dog friendly walks around the park and there is a dog exercise area although dogs are generally requested to be on their leads outside of this, Plenty of bins around and water bowls so you know that your dog is more than welcome, along with a great range of accommodation.
The big attraction for families are the facilities and the subtropical swimming paradise and rapids are great fun. Along with a wave pool, kids slide and flume, outdoor pool, adults flumes, canyon ride and a spa pool. The list of activities is endless, as they always are at Center Parcs but we love Aqua Jetting, if you have never tried it, great fun! You can also go on a caving adventure, that is exclusive to Whinfell Forest or take it easy on an electric boat. Whatever you want, from a game of badminton to football fun factory, it is all on site.
Whinfell Forest is near Penrith with Pooley Bridge nearby, Ullswater is the closest of the lakes and then Windermere is just a little further. The North Pennines is set to the east of the park as well so you are in a great location to get out and explore the wonders that this stunning area has to offer. This is a great base for an adventure packed dog friendly holiday in the Lake District, pricey but worth it with 400 acres of woodlands to explore.

Park Cliffe is a caravan and camping park that really goes out of its way to welcome dogs with all types of accommodation including static caravans, pods, tourers and camping allowing dog friendly holidays in the Lake District right on the shore of Windermere. We love this park because it is in the best location, right on the edge of the lake Windermere and you can walk the edges of the lake with your dog in peace.
There are a number of walks that are based from or nearby to the park, plenty to explore and some amazing views. If you love walking and really getting out with your dog, this park really does provide a great base. There are a number of dog friendly pubs as well nearby so if you want to stop off and refuel, this isn’t a problem.
Park Cliffe by Windermere is not a huge park in terms of facilities, people come here to relax and enjoy the environment. It does have a nice bar with a pool table and dogs are welcome on the terrace. There are also pop up food trailers on site on a regular basis. There is a great kids outdoor adventure playground on site and the indoor games room has air hockey, football and other machines. We like this park because it is in a truly stunning location, very well presented and maintained and it feels like a park where you can really bond without distractions, a great place to stay by the lakes!
