As it stands, the opening scene on the Away Resorts Mersea Island Holiday Park is actually a man walking his dog down a path, that says it all really. Mersea Island Holiday Park is fantastic for pet friendly holidays in Essex with direct access to a dog friendly beach. There are lots of walks in the nearby area and the park is relaxed and tranquil.
Facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, adventure playground for the kids and other activities. They have the Muddy Duck clubhouse and a park shop so everything is here for you. We think this is a great choice if you want a park that is spacious, relatively quiet and relaxing and perfect for a pet friendly break.

Our next choice for a pet friendly Essex park is another independent park right by the beach on Mersea Island. Waldegraves Holiday Park goes out of its way to attract families that want to bring their pet on holiday and they have a dedicated exercise and dog walking area and they have a dedicated field for hire if you want to let your dogs run free and wild and in the outside areas by the granary Restaurant and in The Courtyard. The other reason that we think this is a great dog friendly park is that they don’t charge you the earth to bring your dog with you, they are very reasonable!
The park has static caravans for hire and touring and camping pitches. There are daytime activities and evening entertainment with the Sammy and Bonnie’s kids club with regular shows. The park has four fishing lakes with a permanent warden and an outdoor heated swimming pool. There is crazy golf plus an 18 hole pitch and put course, footgolf, boating lake, sports area, clubhouse and shop. We think it is a fantastic independent park in a great location, oh, right by the beach as well!

St Osyth, Essex
St Osyth Beach and Martello Beach are two parks that are set right next to each other in St Osyth to the south of Clacton-on-sea. The real draw here is that both parks are right next to St Osyth beach which is dog friendly all year round and is a sand and pebble beach. All of the main facilities are on Martello Beach with a new entertainment and leisure complex and new swimming pool with a dual lane slide which is shared across both parks. St Osyth also has a small coarse fishing lake which is well stocked and ideal for beginners.
Both parks have a good selection of pet friendly accommodation and they also have some pets go free holidays which we think is a great idea! Ther eis a full entertainment program with kids club, amusement arcade, adventure playground, bar and climbing wall so plenty to do for all of the family. We think these two parks are ideal if you want a family holiday with lots on offer by a dog friendly beach.

Dovercourt Holiday Park is actually right by Irlams Beach and a decent stroll or short drive to Dovercourt Beach in Harwich. This is actually good news if you want a dog friendly park as Irlams beach is dog friendly all year round. Dovercourt has summertime restrictions for dogs on part of the beach. This is another Park Holidays pet friendly park and you can sometimes take advantage of their pets go free holidays, usually dependent on the time of the year.
Dovercourt Holiday Park has also benefitted from a big investment with a new indoor heated pool on the park and a refurbished club house. The new entertainment venue has the latest technology so they can put on some great shows. Coopers Beach Holiday Park is a Parkdean Holiday park on Mersea Island, another dog friendly park right by the beach. As a Parkdean site, you get loads of entertainment and all of the facilities, this park is ideal for families that want to bring a pet and keep their kids entertained at the same time. The list of activities and things to do on site is too long to list here but includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools with aqua jets, aqua paddlers and kayaks plus more! Fro football to hover boards, the kids can be entertained day and night.
Coopers Beach has a bar, restaurant, Costa Coffee and an entertainment venue. There are dog friendly lodges and caravans on site that sleep up to 8 people. This is a really nice and pretty park with great sea views from some of the lodges with a slipway down to the beach, ideal for a fun failed action packed holiday by the beach in Essex!
