Where to Stay for Hampshire Caravan Holidays

Hampshire caravan holidays are usually shaped by three main areas: the coast, the New Forest and quieter inland Hampshire. Hayling Island, Milford on Sea and the Solent are strongest for coastal caravan holidays, family parks, entertainment and beach days, while New Milton, Ringwood and the New Forest work better for woodland walks, cycling, dog friendly stays and lodge breaks.

Milford on Sea and New Milton are especially useful if you want both coast and forest access, with Lymington, Keyhaven, Hurst Castle and Isle of Wight views nearby. Hayling Island has a more traditional seaside feel, with beaches, watersports and easy routes towards Portsmouth and the Solent.

For countryside and lodge holidays, Winchester, Ringwood and inland Hampshire offer a quieter alternative, with access to the South Downs, historic places, forest trails and family attractions such as Beaulieu and Paultons Park.

Hampshire Reviews
Anthony Davies
We had a great holiday in Hampshire and stayed at Shorefield, not too far from the beach. The site was very well maintained and there are some great places to visit nearby. We loved walking around the New Forest, Fordingbridge is pretty and Brockenhurst is a good place for walking and seeing the ponies. Paultons Park is also excellent if you have younger children and was reasonably good value for money.

Have you stayed here?

Which part of Hampshire is best for caravan holidays?

Hayling Island and the Solent are best for coastal caravan holidays, family parks and beach access. New Milton, Ringwood and the New Forest are better for woodland walks, cycling, dog friendly stays and lodge breaks. Milford on Sea works well if you want the coast and the New Forest within easy reach.

Are there caravan holidays near the New Forest?

Yes. The New Forest is one of the strongest areas in Hampshire for caravan holidays and lodge breaks. Parks around Ringwood, New Milton and the forest edge are useful for woodland walks, cycling routes, Beaulieu, Lymington, Fordingbridge and Paultons Park.

Are there coastal caravan parks in Hampshire?

Yes. Hayling Island is the main area for a traditional coastal caravan holiday, with beaches, watersports and family parks nearby. Milford on Sea, New Milton and the Solent offer a quieter coastal stay, with shoreline walks, sea views, Lymington, Keyhaven and routes towards the Isle of Wight.

Are Hampshire holiday parks good for family breaks?

Yes. Hampshire works well for family breaks because the main holiday areas give access to beaches, the New Forest and family attractions without very long drives. Paultons Park, Beaulieu, Hayling Island, Winchester, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and the Solent coast are all useful days out from the main park areas.

Are there Hampshire holiday parks with entertainment?

Yes. Larger holiday parks around Hayling Island, New Milton, Milford on Sea and the New Forest are more likely to offer entertainment, pools, restaurants, play areas and activities. Quieter lodge parks around Ringwood, Winchester and inland Hampshire are usually better for countryside breaks.

What do people get wrong when booking caravan parks in Hampshire?

The main mistake is choosing a park that looks central on a map rather than choosing the area that suits the holiday. If beach days matter, Hayling Island, Milford on Sea, New Milton or the Solent usually make more sense. If forest walks matter, Ringwood, New Milton and the New Forest edge are better choices.
