The long stretch of beach has groynes that run along it as this area suffers dramatically from coastal erosion, there is a long promenade that runs alongside the beach providing easy access for families. The beach is primarily sand with shingle at the sea defence wall and backed by a pretty road full of  guest houses, shops and cafes.
