Blackwood Forest is a relaxing Forest Holidays site near Winchester in Hampshire which boasts 60 different cabins to choose from which are all surrounded by an established and peaceful beechwood forest set within the Hampshire countryside. The park has an outdoor play area, forest ranger activities, bike hire and in cabin bookable treatments such as soothing massages.  There is a café/ bar and restaurant and a shop with offers essentials for cooking up a hearty meal after a day riding the local forest cycle routes. 

There are plenty of cabins to choose from which can accommodate up to 10 people in anything from 1 bedroom cabins up to those with 5 bedroom layouts. The cabins offer facilities and luxuries such as private hot tubs, log burners and barbecues. This includes the ‘Golden Oak Treehouse which sleeps upto 10 guests and even features an additional bedroom only accessible by walking across a rope bridge. There are wheelchair adapted cabins and this is a dog friendly site so be sure to check out the cabins which are suitable if you wish to bring along a dog.

There’s plenty to see and do locally including exploring the forest itself, discover the local animals such as the Purple Emperor butterfly and at certain times of the year, wild strawberries can be seen growing. There are a good choice of local walks and cycle routes to choose from with days out to the coastal resort of Bournemouth only an hours’ drive away. Check out Peppa Pig World is less than an hour’s drive away for those visiting with younger children. For the adventurous visitors Go Ape at Alice Holt Forest offers a range of exciting tree top challenges.

Smaller groups such as couples looking for a relaxing forest getaway should check out the Golden Oak Hideaway which is a 1-bedroom cabin featuring a private hot tub, log burner and barbecue on the outdoor dining space.

Theres also the 2-3 bedroom Silver Birch cabins which can accommodate up to 6 visiting guests and also include a private hot tub. The wheelchair adapted Silver Birch cabins are 2 bedroomed and feature a lowered kitchen area, a wet room and have a private hot tub with hoist.

Places to visit nearby to Blackwood Forest

If you love everything about the forest but want to get up amongst it then head off to the nearby Go Ape at Alice Holt Forest. Where there are lots of different activities to enjoy such as tree top adventures and segway rides.

Prefer to sample some wine? Then head off for the day to Hambledon’s wine tour. There are plenty of cycle and walking routes nearby including walks with fantastic and far-reaching views towards the south coast. Theres the Alred’s Ancient Capital Walk where you can experience wildflowers, riverside views and stop along the way at Winchester cathedral.

The big draw to the area is of course the historic Stonehenge whilst days out shopping can be enjoyed at nearby Basingstoke.
