Roadford Lake Lodges offers individually furnished two, three and four-bedroom accommodation for families, couples and groups. Two-bedroom lodges generally sleep four guests. A typical layout has a principal double or king-size bedroom, a twin bedroom and two bathrooms. These lodges are ideal for couples, smaller families or two adults sharing with children.

Three-bedroom accommodation usually sleeps six, although selected layouts accommodate seven. Bedrooms commonly combine a principal double with twin, double or bunk bedrooms. Most have a family bathroom and an ensuite shower room.

Four-bedroom lodges sleep eight or nine guests and provide more space for extended families and groups. Layouts can include two double bedrooms, twin bedrooms and bunk accommodation, together with two bathrooms and larger dining areas.

Every lodge in the main holiday collection includes a private hot tub. Outdoor areas range from open patios with countryside views to enclosed gardens that are particularly useful for families and dog owners.

Two electric vehicle charging points are positioned near reception. Charging is paid for through the operator’s app, and vehicles should be moved back to their allocated lodge space once charging is complete.

Roadford Lake itself is only a short walk from the lodges. The lake, activity centre, café and organised outdoor programme are managed separately by South West Lakes Trust rather than forming part of the lodge park’s included facilities.

Activities at Roadford Lake

Roadford Lake Activity Centre is operated by South West Lakes Trust. Its current programme includes kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, sailing, archery, high ropes and fishing.

Visitors can hire equipment, launch suitable personal craft or book instructor-led sessions. Activities, equipment hire, fishing and instruction carry separate charges and should be reserved directly with the activity centre.

Walking and cycling routes explore the lake’s woodland, Culm grassland, pastures and orchards. Wildlife around the water includes woodland birds, waterfowl, insects and mammals. 

Roadford Lake Café

Roadford Lake Café provides coffee, cakes, ice cream and light refreshments beside the lake. Indoor and outdoor seating overlooks the water, making it convenient before or after an activity or walk.

The café is separately operated from the lodge park. Opening hours can vary with the season, events and activity-centre timetable. 

Fishing at Roadford Lake

Fishing is managed by South West Lakes Trust. Anglers should arrange the appropriate permits, check current fishing areas and hold a valid Environment Agency rod licence where required.

Access and conditions can change according to reservoir levels, conservation work and seasonal fishing arrangements, so bookings should be made directly with the lake operator.

Places to Visit Near Roadford Lake Lodges

Roadford Lake Lodges is well positioned for holidays combining countryside, Dartmoor, historic towns and the beaches of North Cornwall.

Roadford Lake is immediately beside the park. Visitors can follow woodland paths, cycle around parts of the reservoir, watch wildlife or book activities through South West Lakes Trust.

Launceston is approximately eleven miles away. The town has independent shops, cafés and restaurants, together with Launceston Castle and the heritage Launceston Steam Railway.

Lydford Gorge is approximately ten miles from the lodges. National Trust trails lead through ancient woodland to the Devil’s Cauldron and the Whitelady Waterfall, with the available routes changing according to conditions and the time of year.

The northwestern edge of Dartmoor National Park can be reached in around ten minutes. Visitors can explore open moorland, reservoirs, historic villages and walking routes around places such as Sourton, Lydford and Meldon.

Tavistock is approximately fourteen miles away and is known for its pannier market, independent shops, cafés and riverside walks. The town also provides access to the western side of Dartmoor and the Tamar Valley.

Bude and Widemouth Bay can normally be reached in around 40 to 45 minutes. Both provide sandy beaches, surfing, coastal walking and places to eat.

Further afield, Morwellham Quay explores the Tamar Valley’s mining and maritime history, while the Eden Project can be reached in approximately 50 minutes using the A30.
