Ashbourne is approximately five minutes from Sandybrook. The market town has historic streets, independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. The southern end of the Tissington Trail and Ashbourne Cycle Hire are also close to the town.

The Tissington Trail follows a former railway line for 13 miles between Ashbourne and Parsley Hay. Its traffic free surface is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders, with bicycle hire available near the Ashbourne entrance.
