Stanwix Park Holiday Centre is a large family-run holiday park on the Solway Coast at Silloth in Cumbria. Visitors can stay in two and three-bedroom caravans, self-catering apartments, camping pods or on fully serviced pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents. The caravan accommodation sleeps up to eight guests, while the apartments provide space for four or six. Selected accommodation welcomes dogs, and adapted caravans are available for guests who require ramped access and additional internal space. 

The leisure complex is one of the main reasons families choose this park. It includes an indoor swimming pool with water features, a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, heated loungers, experience showers and a gym. A second outdoor pool opens during the summer, subject to weather conditions. 

JJ’s Bowl combines ten-pin bowling with soft play, children’s pool tables and a snooker room. Families can also use the outdoor adventure playground and join daytime activities during school holidays. 

Evening entertainment takes place in the Sunset Inn, while the Sky Bar shows live sport and the Dunes Cabaret Bar hosts entertainment for adults. Food is available from the Garden Café, and the seasonal Cabin Bar provides outdoor seating and welcomes dogs.

Stanwix Park provides caravans, apartments, camping pods and touring or camping pitches. The range covers family holidays, couples’ breaks, pet-friendly stays and visitors bringing their own caravan, motorhome or tent. 

The caravan accommodation has two or three bedrooms and generally sleeps between four and eight guests. Layouts normally combine a double bedroom with one or two twin bedrooms, with additional sleeping space available in the lounge in selected caravans.

Each caravan includes a living and dining area, kitchen, shower room, heating and a television. Kitchens have an oven or cooker, microwave, fridge or fridge-freezer, kettle and toaster. Bed linen, gas and electricity are included. 

Higher-grade caravans can include wider interiors, an ensuite bathroom, a television in the principal bedroom, free WiFi, prepared beds and an earlier arrival time. Selected premium accommodation also has a side balcony and outdoor furniture. 

Adapted caravans are available with ramped access and layouts intended to provide easier movement around the accommodation. Pet-friendly caravans are offered within selected grades rather than throughout the entire range. 

The apartment collection includes studio and two-bedroom accommodation sleeping four or six guests. Ground-floor and first-floor choices are available, with selected apartments accepting dogs.

Camping Pods at Stanwix Park

The camping pods sleep up to four guests and provide an insulated alternative to staying in a tent. Each pod has lighting, plug sockets, an electric heater, opening windows, double entrance doors and a small veranda.

The pods do not contain beds or bedding, so guests need to bring their usual camping equipment. A picnic bench and cooking area are provided outside, and visitors use the nearby campsite toilets, showers and camper’s kitchen.

Pet-friendly and pet-free pods are available, with up to two dogs accepted in the appropriate accommodation. 

Touring and Camping at Stanwix Park

The Criffel touring area has fully serviced pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents. Pitches have electricity, water and waste connections, with hardstanding surfaces used to improve drainage.

Touring facilities include toilets, hot showers, baths, washbasins, chemical-disposal points, washing machines and dryers. The camper’s kitchen has sinks, worktops, electric hobs and microwaves.

    Stanwix Park has extensive leisure and entertainment facilities, allowing families to combine a Solway Coast holiday with swimming, bowling, live shows and organised activities.

    The indoor leisure pool has water features, a bubble pad, waterfall and jet sprays. The adjoining wellness facilities include a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, foot spas, heated loungers and experience showers. A gym and sunbed are also available, with age restrictions applying to the fitness and spa areas. 

    The seasonal outdoor pool opens during the warmer months and has a surrounding sun terrace. The deeper section is heated, although opening depends on the weather and current park timetable. 

    JJ’s Bowl provides ten-pin bowling using interactive graphics and animations. The same area includes Foxy’s Soft Play for younger children, children’s pool tables, refreshments and a separately bookable snooker room. Bowling and snooker are charged separately. 

    The Sunset Inn is the main family entertainment venue, with children’s characters, live productions, music and dancing during the entertainment season. The Sky Bar shows major sporting events and has darts and pool, while the Dunes Cabaret Bar provides bingo, quizzes, live music and comedy for guests aged 16 and over.

    Swimming and Wellness Facilities

    Leisure-centre access is included for staying guests. Children under eight and non-swimmers under fourteen must be accompanied and supervised by an adult, as no lifeguards are provided.

    The sauna, steam room and gym are restricted to guests aged sixteen and over. Pool sessions or capacity limits may be introduced during busy periods. 

    Family Activities and Entertainment

    Free daytime activities run during school holidays, with younger children accompanied by an adult. The timetable changes according to the season and may include games, crafts, sports and character-led sessions. 

    Family entertainment generally runs between spring and autumn, with the largest programme during school holidays. Adults can also attend live cabaret, music and comedy events in the Dunes Bar. 

    Food and Drink

    The Garden Café serves breakfast, pizzas, burgers, sharing dishes and takeaway food. Tables are available for guests eating inside, with the menu supplemented by daily or seasonal specials. 

    The Sky Bar provides drinks and live sport throughout the year. The Cabin Bar opens seasonally and serves draught beer, spirits, hot drinks and snacks in an outdoor setting where dogs are welcome. 

Places to Visit Near Stanwix Park Holiday Centre

Stanwix Park is on the Solway Coast, giving guests access to beaches, coastal cycling, nature reserves, historic towns and the northern Lake District.

Silloth town centre can be reached on foot. Visitors can explore the 36-acre town green, promenade, west beach, independent shops and cafés. The Solway Coast Discovery Centre provides information about the area’s wildlife, landscapes and history. National Cycle Route 72 also passes through Silloth. 

The Solway Coast National Landscape surrounds much of the local shoreline. Its saltmarsh, dunes, mudflats and open views make it ideal for walking, cycling and birdwatching.

Allonby is approximately eight miles south along the coast road. The village has a long beach and provides a scenic stop on the route towards Maryport. 

Maryport is around 13 miles away. Visitors can walk around the harbour, visit the Lake District Coast Aquarium or explore the Senhouse Roman Museum, which overlooks the site of a Roman fort. 

Bowness-on-Solway is approximately 16 miles away and marks the western end of Hadrian’s Wall. The surrounding coastal landscape provides quiet walking routes and views across the Solway Firth. 

Carlisle is approximately 22 miles from this park for Carlisle Castle, the cathedral, shopping and museums. Keswick is around 26 miles away for Derwentwater, shops, cafés and access to the northern Lake District fells.
