Barlings Country Park is a peaceful countryside holiday park at Langworth, approximately five miles from Lincoln. Holiday accommodation includes caravans and two, three and four bedroom lodges, with current options sleeping between four and eight guests. Selected lodges have private outdoor hot tubs, while one current two bedroom hot tub lodge is designed specifically for adults.

Fishing is one of the strongest reasons to stay. Two established lakes provide different angling environments, with carp, bream, tench, roach, rudd and perch among the species. Several touring pitches are positioned close to the water, making Barlings particularly convenient for anglers bringing their own caravan or motorhome.

Touring caravans, motorhomes and tents are also welcome. Guests have electric and non electric pitch options alongside heated showers, wet rooms, accessible facilities, baby changing, laundry and washing up areas.

Dogs are welcome with touring and camping bookings and the park has a dedicated dog walking route. The current Hoseasons holiday caravan and lodge accommodation does not accept pets.

Barlings deliberately avoids the large entertainment complexes found at many holiday resorts. There is no swimming pool, bar, restaurant or regular entertainment programme. The park instead focuses on fishing, countryside, open space and easy access to Lincoln and the surrounding Lincolnshire attractions.

Can you fish at Barlings Country Park?

Yes. Barlings has two established fishing lakes within the park.

Willow Lake is the deeper and more open of the two, while Kingfisher Lake is shallower and more enclosed by bushes and vegetation.

Species include carp, bream, tench, roach, rudd and perch, with carp exceeding 26lb recorded in the lakes.

What are the fishing rules at Barlings?

Night fishing is not currently permitted.

Approved baits include carp pellets, boilies, meat, worms, maggots, bread and sweetcorn. Barbed and oversized hooks are not permitted and anglers should use the disinfecting facilities provided beside the lakes.

Fishing arrangements and tickets should be checked at reception before starting. An appropriate Environment Agency rod licence is also required where applicable.

Does Barlings Country Park have hot tubs?

Yes. Selected lodge accommodation has private outdoor hot tubs.

Current bookable choices include hot tub accommodation sleeping four, six and eight, so there are options for couples, families and larger groups.

Is Barlings Country Park dog friendly?

Barlings has a combination of holiday caravans and lodges alongside touring and camping.

The current online rental range provides accommodation for four to eight guests.

Holiday Caravans

Current holiday caravan accommodation includes two bedroom layouts sleeping four.

A typical layout has one double bedroom and one twin bedroom alongside a family bathroom and additional WC facilities.

The open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area opens onto outside decking.

Kitchens include a microwave and fridge freezer alongside the main cooking facilities.

Central heating and double glazing make the accommodation practical for breaks outside the main summer period.

Two Bedroom Lodges

Two bedroom lodge accommodation sleeps between four and six depending on the layout.

A typical family layout combines a double bedroom with a twin room and provides an en suite shower alongside a family bathroom.

Another current two bedroom lodge is adults only and is designed for four adults, with two double bedrooms, individual en suite facilities, an additional WC and lake views.

A private hot tub is included with the adults-only accommodation.

Three Bedroom Lodges

Three bedroom accommodation sleeps six.

The current layout combines two double bedrooms with bunk beds, making it suitable for families.

A full size bathroom is supplemented by en suite facilities and additional dressing space around the main bedroom.

French doors lead onto substantial outdoor decking with a private hot tub.

Four Bedroom Lodges

The largest current lodge sleeps eight.

Accommodation includes an upstairs main bedroom alongside three further bedrooms on the ground floor.

Two bathrooms, a substantial open plan living and dining space and a separate utility or boot room provide useful extra space for larger groups.

Outside, the lodge has a private garden and hot tub.

Private Hot Tubs

Private hot tubs are currently available with selected lodge accommodation for four, six and eight guests.

They are not included with every lodge or caravan, so visitors should choose accommodation where the hot tub is specifically listed.

Barlings has a deliberately simple facilities range centred on fishing, touring and outdoor space.

There is no pool, entertainment complex or on park restaurant, which helps retain the park's quieter countryside atmosphere.

Fishing at Barlings Country Park

Fishing is the standout facility and deserves to be treated as a major reason to choose the park.

There are two principal fishing lakes, each providing a different environment.

Willow Lake

Willow is the more open and deeper of the two lakes.

Its greater depth and open banks create a different style of fishing from Kingfisher and give anglers plenty of water to explore.

Kingfisher Lake

Kingfisher is shallower and more enclosed by established bushes and vegetation.

It has a more natural feel and sits immediately opposite part of the touring and camping area, with several pitches enjoying views towards the water.

Fish Species

The lakes contain a broad range of coarse fish including:

Fish range from smaller stock through to carp of more than 26lb.

This variety makes the lakes suitable for general pleasure fishing as well as visitors specifically hoping to catch larger carp.

Fishing Access and Rules

Fishing tickets are arranged through reception.

The park currently prioritises guests and has temporarily suspended fishing for people who are not staying at Barlings.

There is no night fishing.

Permitted baits include branded carp pellets, boilies, meat, worms, maggots, bread and sweetcorn.

Barbed and oversized hooks are prohibited.

Disinfecting tubs are positioned beside both lakes and should be used for nets and equipment before fishing.

Vehicles should not be left around the lakes. Anglers can unload equipment and then use the designated parking areas.

Touring Facilities

Touring caravans and motorhomes have access to a central amenities block.

Facilities include free showers and toilets, water filling and waste disposal points, recycling and refuse facilities.

Wet rooms provide greater privacy than conventional cubicles, while accessible shower facilities are also available.

Camping

A dedicated non electric camping section sits opposite the fishing lakes.

Campers use the touring amenity block and have access to the same toilets, showers and practical facilities.

The position is particularly useful for anglers who want to camp close to the lakes.

Laundry

A coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer are available.

These are particularly useful for longer touring stays and seasonal guests.

Places to Visit Near Barlings Country Park

Barlings Nature Reserve is close to Langworth and combines grassland, young woodland and easy walking paths. It is useful for a short local walk when guests do not want to travel into Lincoln.

Woodside Wildlife Park is only a few minutes away by car and is one of the closest family attractions. The park houses a range of animals and runs keeper talks and feeding sessions.

Rand Farm Park is another straightforward family day out, with farm animals and indoor and outdoor play.

Lincoln is approximately five miles away. Lincoln Cathedral, Lincoln Castle and the cobbled streets around Bailgate and Steep Hill provide a complete day out, while the lower city has shops, restaurants and the Brayford Waterfront.

The International Bomber Command Centre is also close to Lincoln and combines exhibitions with memorial gardens and its distinctive memorial spire.

Doddington Hall is an Elizabethan house west of Lincoln with gardens, shops and places to eat.

The Lincolnshire Wolds provide a more rural day out, with walking routes, rolling countryside and traditional villages.

The Lincolnshire coast is further away but still possible as a full day trip, with Skegness normally taking just under an hour by car.
