Peaceful, quiet and relaxing walks surrounded by the sights, smells and sounds of nature are the best way to start everyday here and dogs are very welcome so no need to leave them at home. Local deer, owls and common lizards are all local to the park and sightings are possible. The River Thet is very nearby and offers the opportunity to explore the area via canoe, or head out on the many cycle trails nearby. You don’t even have to pack the bikes before leaving home as there is bike hire available on site and is pre-bookable via the website.

After a day of cycling, walking or perhaps even sailing on the Norfolk broads, rest easy in the knowledge that the cabins of which there are 63 to choose from all have hot tubs to relax in of an evening. Some are suitable for 1 to 2 guests such as the ‘Golden Oak Hideaway’ right up to those visiting as part of a larger group up who may want to consider the ‘Golden Oak Treehouse’ which is rather a unique accommodation and can sleep up to 10 visiting guests. Thorpe Forest has an outdoor play area and a café, restaurant and bar area which serves food throughout the day. There is a small shop and two electric vehicle charging points.
Choose from a range of pre-bookable activities to make each stay an enjoyable, educational or relaxing one including spa treatments, forest ranger skills or sporting activities.

Days out can be had at nearby Banham Zoo. Head to BeWILDerwood for exciting outdoor adventures or for some history and heritage a visit to the Sandringham Estate is a must to see the wonderful gardens if nothing else. Although Thorpe Forest is not exactly coastal, the Norfolk coastline is not to far away and therefore a visit to the popular seaside resort of Great Yarmouth would be a good shout!

Accommodation at Thorpe Forest

There are 63 cabins in total at Thorpe Forest and there should be something to suit individuals, couples looking for a cosy retreat and even large extended families. There is a wheelchair adapted cabin which includes a hot tub hoist and other useful adaptions such as lowered kitchen facilities and a wet room. The website is very informative in helping users make the decision before they make a booking.

There are lots of images of the cabins and easy to read bullet pointed facilities. Look at each cabin individually to work out if the floorplan is suitable and consider the added in cabin entertainment upgrades on offer. There’s a great park map which is expandable whereby it is easy to work out the locations of each cabin in relation to each facility such as the café as an example.

The two options on this Forest Holidays site are the Golden Oak and the Silver Birch cabins. Although they do come in a variety of different layouts and offer slightly different features and facilities.

    For those travelling with an electric vehicle, it’s reassuring to know that there are two vehicle charging points very nearby. So, heading out each day is a breeze!

    If staying around for the day rather than heading out, there’s plenty on offer. Thorpe Forest really does encourage visitors to completely relax and unwind. However, if you need help there are a variety of spa treatments available, some of these include reflexology and facials. These are delivered in the comfort of your own cabin so there’s no need to head off anywhere.

    Fancy something a little more active? Then checkout the range of pre-bookable activities such as ‘Nature Tot’s’ or Disc Golf and Archery. Bikes are available to hire from the Forest Retreat where you can head out from to explore the local cycling trails such as the family favourite ‘The Green Sheppard’.

    There is a café, bar and restaurant serving food and drinks throughout most of each day. From here you can also book take away foods, however if preferable there’s an onsite shop where you can purchase the necessary ingredients to cook up a delicious meal from the comfort of your chosen cabin.

    Kids will love hanging out and making friends in the safe outdoor play area and discovering what bugs are inhabiting the bug hotel on a daily basis.

Things to do near to at Thorpe Forest

For those who love being outdoors you’re going to love this place! Theres plenty of bike trails to head out on for the day and forest walks to loose yourself in, not literally!

Lots of people visiting the area take the opportunity to head out for a day’s sailing on the Norfolk Broads, whilst others head to the very popular seaside resort town of Great Yarmouth famed for its golden sands and plenty of activities on offer such as a model village and the exciting pleasure beach.

The River Thet offers plenty of opportunity to get out on the water and explore the 8 kilometres of the tranquil area surrounding the river. Fancy being high up in the trees rather than in the water. A short walk from the cabins is a pine tree climbing course of varying levels to challenge all family members over the age of 8 years old. Or maybe the excitement of a quad bike tour is more appealing where you can explore the Suffolk countryside on four wheels.
