Budle Bay Nature Reserve lies immediately below the park. The mudflats, saltmarsh and shoreline attract a varied range of coastal birds, while footpaths provide views across the bay towards Holy Island.

Bamburgh is approximately 1.6 miles away. The village has independent shops, cafés and places to eat, while Bamburgh Castle stands above a long sandy beach. The RNLI Grace Darling Museum tells the story of the Victorian lighthouse keeper’s daughter and the famous 1838 rescue from the Forfarshire.

Seahouses is approximately six miles away. Boat operators depart from the harbour for the Farne Islands, where visitors can see seabirds and grey seals at different times of the year.

Holy Island is reached by a tidal causeway approximately ten miles from Waren Mill. Visitors can explore Lindisfarne Priory, the village, beaches and Lindisfarne Castle, but must check the official safe crossing times before travelling.
