However, if travelling as part of a larger family group, you may wish to look at the unique Golden Oak Treehouse which has 5 bedrooms and can sleep up to 10 guests. There’s also a wheelchair adapted cabin which includes lowered kitchen facilities and a wet room, this is centrally located and near to the electric vehicle charging point.
Onsite at Sherwood Forest Lodge Park, there is plenty to keep you entertained with several pre-bookable activities available including ‘Forest Survival’ ‘Axe Throwing’ and an outdoor escape game. For something more relaxing check out some of the in cabin spa treatments before heading to the bar and restaurant for some fantastic, cooked meals and refreshing drinks. Other great facilities onsite at Sherwood Forest Lodge Park include a children’s play area, a shop and bike hire.
There’s plenty around and about to keep you entertained including fantastic woodland walks and cycle trails to test yourself on. Go Ape is very close by, and Sherwood Forest Country Park is definitely worth a visit to see some amazing and very old oak trees and learn a thing or two about Robin Hood himself.

Accomodation at Sherwood Forest Lodge Park
Every cabin at Forest Holiday’s Sherwood Forest park in Nottinghamshire has its own private hot tub to relax of an evening in, which are surrounded by this historical and much written about woodland. With 82 cabins to choose from, whatever cabin you do choose it will be a great base with which to explore what’s nearby and further afield. Equally the cabins will provide a wonderful retreat with which to completely switch off and enjoy a slower pace of life surrounded by nature, wildlife and woodland.
The cabins at this location are named unsurprisingly after trees. There is the Golden Oak and The Silver Birch. Each one though comes in a variety of different options including the ‘New Style Golden Oak’ which can sleep up to 8 guests across either 2, 3 and 4 bedroom options. These include a log burner, underfloor heating and a barbeque to enjoy some alfresco dining unless of course you wish to not cook at all and take advantage of the in-cabin takeaway meals order facility.
The Golden Oak Hideaway is a great choice if all you need is a 1 bedroomed accommodation with luxuries such as cosy egg sharing chairs, log burners and a sharing bath.
The Silver Birch Cabins are also a great option and they come as either a 2 bedroomed layout or the slightly larger 3 bedroomed layout. Again, these include outdoor dining areas, private hot tubs and in the case of the wheelchair adapted Silver Birch, it comes with a very useful hot tub hoist.
Facilities at Sherwood Forest Lodge Park
Centrally located within this beautiful resort which is nestled within the pine forest is the Forest Retreat. There is a well-stocked shop here which sells groceries, beverages and even the odd souvenir. It is also the location for the restaurant, bar and café which serves a range of foods and drinks throughout the day. The website is very useful, and you can even check out the menu before arrival. Takeaway options include the ‘Forest Ranger Breakfast’ for the morning, a ‘Caesar Salad’ for lunch and maybe finish it off with a tasty ‘Chicken Tikka Masala’ in the evening.
The Forest Retreat is also the place to head if your wanting to book any of the activities on offer, such as ‘Pottery painting’ ‘Axe throwing’ or maybe something a touch more relaxing such as the range of in-cabin spa treatments which include a Holistic facial and head massage which lasts over 30 minutes.
It’s also the place to head for fantastic advice from the local staff members, especially if your stuck for ideas to keep the kids entertained for the day. Speaking of the kids, right alongside it is the wonderful and safe outdoor play area.
The Sherwood Pines Visitor centre is a short walk away from the Forest Retreat where there is bike hire available and there is archery available to participate in near to the waste and recycling point.
Things to do near to Sherwood Forest Lodge Park
If you head over to Sherwood Pines Cycles you can hire bikes for all members of the family before heading out for the day on two wheels. This area of woodland has something suitable for all levels and capabilities including a safe skills area and family cycle routes. There’s a very useful bike frame size guide on their website so as you can even pre-book bikes ahead of time.
Prefer to walk? Then put on a pair of comfortable walking shoes and discover ancient woodlands, local wildlife and stunning scenery all around. There’s plenty of local forest walks including those where you will pass ancient trees and might spot whetstones used by Robin Hood and his Merry men. Go Ape is nearby and you can challenge yourself with a whole range of fun and adventurous activities such as segway rides and tree top challenges.
There’s a local stables which offers pony trekking and Rufford Park Golf and Country Club is only a short drive away if you fancy hitting a few balls.
For those who enjoy a days shopping, Mansfield is nearby as is the Designer Outlet East Midlands where you will find shops such as Lacoste, Levis, Under Armour and Wagamama.
