Overview of Kingfisher Holiday Park
Kingfisher Holiday Park is a peaceful countryside holiday park near Knaresborough in North Yorkshire, set among woodland, ponds and a wildlife-rich nature reserve. Acquired by Park Holidays in 2026, it is particularly suited to touring caravans, motorhomes, camping holidays and visitors who want a quieter base for exploring Knaresborough, Harrogate and York. See our full range of parks offering York caravan and lodge holidays here.
The main holiday offer is touring and camping. Guests can choose grass or hardstanding pitches suitable for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, with 10 amp electric hook-up provided across the current pitch range. Seasonal touring pitches are also available for guests who want to leave their caravan at the park for much of the season.
Kingfisher also has a four-bedroom holiday cottage sleeping up to eight guests. This provides a completely different option for larger families and groups, with a private garden, games room and full self-catering facilities.
Static caravans and lodges form part of the holiday home ownership side of the park rather than a conventional Park Holidays rental fleet. New and pre-owned holiday homes are currently available to buy around the park's attractive countryside setting.
The landscape is one of Kingfisher's strongest features. Two lakes, peaceful ponds, woodland trails and a nature reserve provide places to walk, watch wildlife and enjoy picnics without leaving the park. Families also have a children's playground, while dog owners benefit from two dedicated exercise areas and woodland walking.
Knaresborough is only a short drive away, Harrogate is approximately seven miles from the park and York is within straightforward reach for a full day out.

Accommodation at Kingfisher Holiday Park
Kingfisher's current holiday offer is broader than a simple caravan park but should be understood correctly. Touring, motorhomes and camping form the core of the Park Holidays booking offer, while a four-bedroom cottage provides a self-catering alternative.
Static caravans and lodges are also present within the park but are principally part of its growing holiday home ownership development.
Touring Caravan Pitches
Touring caravans are one of the main reasons to book Kingfisher.
Guests can choose between grass and hardstanding pitches, allowing greater flexibility depending on their touring setup and the time of year.
Current touring pitches include 10 amp electric hook-up as standard.
The peaceful setting makes Kingfisher particularly appealing to tourers who want space, woodland and countryside rather than a large entertainment complex.
Motorhome Pitches
Motorhomes are also accepted on the current pitch range.
Hardstanding pitches are particularly useful for heavier vehicles, while guests have access to the same toilet, shower, washing-up and laundry facilities as touring caravan visitors.
Knaresborough and Harrogate are close enough for days out while allowing guests to return to a quieter countryside setting in the evening.
Camping Pitches
Kingfisher welcomes tents as well as touring vehicles.
Grass camping pitches are available and current pitches include electric hook-up, making them especially useful for families who want a traditional camping holiday with access to electricity.
Toilet, shower and washing-up facilities are provided for camping guests.
Seasonal Touring
Seasonal touring pitches are available for guests who prefer to leave their touring caravan at Kingfisher rather than towing it back and forth for every visit.
The current seasonal period runs through the main touring season from spring into autumn.
This can work particularly well for regular visitors to North Yorkshire who want repeated access to Knaresborough, Harrogate and the surrounding countryside.
Four-Bedroom Holiday Cottage
Kingfisher also offers a substantial self-catering cottage sleeping up to eight guests.
The accommodation has four bedrooms, including two double bedrooms and two further bedrooms, along with an en suite bathroom and additional family facilities.
A spacious living area includes a Smart TV, while the kitchen has full self-catering facilities and a breakfast bar.
One of the cottage's strongest features is its dedicated games room, with arcade games, board games and a multi-games table.
Outside is a private enclosed garden with patio furniture and privacy fencing.
The cottage is pet friendly, making it particularly suitable for extended families or groups who want more space than a touring setup provides.
Privately Owned Static Caravans and Lodges
Static caravans and lodges are becoming an increasingly important part of Kingfisher following Park Holidays' acquisition of the park.
Holiday homes are available for private ownership in the countryside setting, including locations around the lake.
These units should not automatically be treated as Park Holidays rental accommodation. The current short-break offer is focused on touring, camping and the holiday cottage.

Park Facilities at Kingfisher Holiday Park
Kingfisher's facilities are deliberately centred on its countryside setting rather than a large leisure complex. The nature reserve, lakes and woodland are genuine reasons to spend time around the park, while practical touring amenities make longer stays straightforward.
Nature Reserve
The nature reserve is one of Kingfisher's defining features.
It forms part of the park's peaceful landscape and gives guests somewhere to slow down, walk and watch wildlife without leaving the site.
The park is particularly attractive to birdwatchers, with the lakes, ponds and woodland supporting a mixture of resident and visiting species.
Red kites are regularly associated with the surrounding area, while the wetland habitat also supports waterfowl, insects and other wildlife.
Lakes and Ponds
Kingfisher has two spring-fed lakes alongside smaller ponds.
These form an important part of the nature reserve and help give the park its distinctive character.
Picnic benches overlook parts of the water, providing pleasant places for lunch or simply sitting and watching the wildlife.
The lakes should not currently be promoted as a guest fishing facility. Older third-party information refers to fishing in the wider area, but Park Holidays' current first-party information does not advertise fishing as an on-park activity.
Woodland Trails
Woodland paths run through the park and provide easy walking directly from the touring and holiday home areas.
These routes are particularly useful for dog owners and guests who want a short morning or evening walk without driving elsewhere.
Dog Walking Areas
Kingfisher is particularly well set up for guests bringing dogs.
There are two dedicated dog walking areas along with the woodland path.
Pets can accompany guests for a small nightly charge, making the park a strong option for touring and camping holidays with dogs.
Children's Playground
A gated children's play area provides younger guests with somewhere to play within the park.
It adds a useful family facility without changing Kingfisher's generally quiet countryside atmosphere.
Touring Shower and Toilet Block
A fully serviced toilet and shower building is available for touring and camping guests.
This is one of the key practical facilities for guests staying in tents, motorhomes or touring caravans.
Washing-Up Facilities
Dedicated washing-up facilities are provided for touring and camping guests.
Launderette
An on-site launderette is available, with charges applying.
This is particularly useful for longer touring stays and seasonal guests.
Picnic Areas
Picnic benches around the park provide places to eat outdoors, including positions overlooking the ponds and nature areas.
Food and Drink Nearby
Kingfisher does not currently advertise an on-site restaurant or bar.
Several traditional pubs are available in the surrounding countryside and around Knaresborough, giving visitors a good choice of places to eat without travelling far.

Places to Visit Near Kingfisher Holiday Park
Kingfisher is exceptionally well placed for exploring Knaresborough, Harrogate and York, giving visitors a choice between countryside, historic towns, gardens and major family attractions.
Knaresborough is the obvious first stop. The market town sits dramatically above the River Nidd and is known for its railway viaduct, riverside walks and castle ruins. Knaresborough Castle provides panoramic views across the river and town, while boats can be hired on the Nidd during the main visitor season.
Mother Shipton's Cave is one of the area's best-known family attractions and lies only a few miles from the park. Visitors can follow a woodland walk beside the River Nidd to the famous cave and Petrifying Well, where mineral-rich water gradually covers objects in stone-like deposits.
Nidd Gorge provides a more natural day out. This ancient wooded valley between Knaresborough and Harrogate has riverside paths through approximately 46 hectares of woodland and is particularly attractive for walking and wildlife.
Harrogate is around seven miles away and provides shops, cafés, restaurants and elegant Victorian architecture. The town's green spaces include Valley Gardens, while RHS Garden Harlow Carr combines extensive gardens, woodland and seasonal planting on the edge of town.
Further west, Brimham Rocks is one of North Yorkshire's most distinctive natural attractions. Huge gritstone formations create unusual shapes and viewpoints across Nidderdale.
Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal provide one of the region's most substantial heritage days out, combining the ruins of a medieval abbey with an 18th-century water garden and extensive parkland.
York is also within easy reach for a full day. Visitors can explore York Minster, walk the medieval city walls, wander through the Shambles or visit the National Railway Museum.
